Day 36

I have been busy in mari texturing the body, lining up the camouflage adding photo textures and weathering. I have a diffuse map and a specular map. I then use the specular for the bump roughness and spec gloss amount.

Day 34

I am doing one panel of the aircraft a day at the moment, anymore than this and its to rushed and becomes unenjoyable. Here is a Vray render of the part i did today, followed by two Mari screenshots of how i like to work.

Day 33

I have been texturing in mari and compositing in 3ds max all the pieces one by one. I am using Vray to render and have a 3 light setup, I also have HRDI light. The rivets where done in Mudbox and outputted as a displacement map.

Day 32

So today was all about displacement maps.

here are some of my working examples

As you can see the rivets are wavy, they are the same in the map so the map is creating this effect. It must be the way mudbox is raytracing, or so i believe at this point. the plan is to paint out these lines in photoshop.

Remember to use the correct colourspace in your HDRI images, 8 bit tiffs use sRGB and 32 bit .EXR use none.

Here are my VrayDisplacementmod settings, if your not seeing anything check that displacement is turned on in vray/Global switches / displacement checked on. The setting i used are from a tutorial below. Also if you dont see anything adjust the "Amount" setting

Tutorial on settings very useful
